Your Main Party
(Everyone besides the Protag (Travis) and your friend (Zeke) are gargoyles) Gargoyles, in universe, are reptilian, yet have some elements of local animal species. Your friends are from around the world (most of them being international studies) thus leading to some... phenotypically unique individuals. Most animals are normally colored here (no neon ass fursonas, more realistic and chill) but some of the gargoyles are a bit more colorful)
- Travis (Protagonist): Gray wolf [Italian American 5'8"] Weapon: Baseball bat. Pinterest Lookboard. Aimless and bored, Travis is dreading the coming summer research program. Feeling the increasing (self-inflected) pressure to discover who he is, he code switches frequently to try and get to know every one of the students in the program. A master of "fake it 'til you make it", he actually does a good job fitting into any situation and getting along with everyone. Ultimately afraid of being found out for not being genuine, he is simultanouesly an average, "boring-simple" protagonist that doubts his own abilities. In the end, his insecurities begin eating him up and he has no goals, aspirations, or hobbies - not realizing his potential. His arc is about accepting where you are in life, and recognizing the potential for change. His Resonance Form manifests as a 1920's masquerade party host, representing his tendency to wear several different masks and wants to hide his true self - aimless and scared, yet simultaneously showy with a snazzy blue suit all glittered up, reminiscent not only of the vibrant parties of the Prohibition era but also elaborate outfits some athletes wear during a draft, "the most important time of one's career". Symbolizing his fear of being unknown and ultimate goal to be chosen, recognized. His masquerade mask is a royal blue lobster mask - also representing how his inner self subconsciously wants to be "1 in a million", like the odds of a wild blue lobster. The chapter/dungeon uses a heavy jazz/Americana aesthetic. His chapter, the final one, you are not playable - instead, Zeke and the rest of the team work to save you from falling deeper into your disillusion.

- Zeke ("Runner Up", always losing, best friend): Bald eagle. [Polish American, 6'0"] Weapon: Fights with Krav Maga. Pinterest Lookboard. At home, his mother and father have recently separated due to religious differences, although also general marital difficulties. While he is often correct about things, he comes off fairly immature and crass, and can't keep his mouth shut sometimes. Tries very hard to be liked by others, and looks up to the protagonist for his abilities in being able to get along with everyone. Tries TOO hard, and is often the punching bag from the other characters. Though, he does deserve it occasionally - and often comes off offensive or annoying. Also one of those weird guys you knew from high school that was really into collecting knives and """into history""". But really a gem of a character that becomes selfless fighting to save the main character after their enormous fight. Fights with his mom a lot, and ultimately learns to be a better son. Realizes that many things he bitched at his mom about as a child were things out of her control during the divorce. Themes of differences in interpreting religion and also subtle classism within certain sects, his mother being quiet poor without his father. Internal debate/realization of his father providing a lot of income, while abusing his mom - so, she endured it while raising him until she couldn't take it, only for him to be a little bitch over it unknowingly. His mom wasn't a total angel though, and often took her anger out on her. Lessons in communication. His Resonance Form manifests as a rock-Apocolypse, "Mad-Max"-esque... fashion. Due to his constant anxiety/"this is the end of the world" mindset, he overcompensates with the... er, rock like/punk aesthetic in the desert town. For some reason, has a magical red keytar/keyboard with recorded soundbytes he plays in reaction to things. In the end adopts his full name Ezekiel as a means of reaching a middle ground and accepting more of his background/connection with his mother.

- Yvonne: [French-Italian 5'7"] pinterest lookboard here. Brighter yellow gargoyle with orange accents... maybe orange whiskers or crows feet-esque markings. Film industry, theatre...? Meta, comedy themed "trapped in a musical". Edit: Thought going an "extreme sports" route was more interesting. She's a famous actress involved with several in-universe franchises that's recently left the entertainment industry after being managed by her mother. Although she is supposedly stunning in all of her photoshoots and magazine appearances, and your friends comment on how excited they are to meet her, the expectation drops quickly as she's actually extremely oblivious to what normal people are like. Not in a snobby way, but in a... she doesn't quite understand emotions and social interactions way. ...and because she's famous and rich... of course. That factors into it. Her bow she uses to fight with is actually a movie prop, as she was the lead in a super successful hunger games-like movie franchise. Her half-life is displayed as "extreme sports" as her favorite movie she acted in was a super campy snowboard romcom, but it's kind of a broad xgames like mix in general. Her Resonance Form is sort of like... Think a bicycling spandex shirt covered in sponsors with orange snowboarding goggles, along with extreme high energy action poses, running through the narrow old streets of a resort in Monaco. Also maybe she can have sticky fingers kind of like a gecko? idk. Also, she eventually decides she wants to go back into the industry to protect kids that used to be like her from being taken advantage of on set.
